President’s Message

Patrice Jensen2017-18 Theme
Dear Friends and Neighbors:

Thank you for showing an interest in us by coming to our website for the Rossmoor Rotary Club. We are part of the 35,000 clubs that comprise the organization called Rotary International. At Rossmoor Rotary we are proud and excited about the good work we do in our local community and for our International Project in Sintaro, Ethiopia.

Our International theme this year, is Making a Difference and we feel strongly that we are doing so with our service work. Rotary International is committed to eradicating polio in the world. We have contributed to this effort with our time and donations.

We are always busy working on the next projects for Rossmoor, Walnut Creek and surrounding areas, and the youth of our community. Our Gala every year raises thousands of dollars for our community’s Alzheimer and Parkinson’s patients and their families. All funds are given locally. We also serve our Tice Valley Rossmoor community with projects such as our Peace Park, the stage at the Dollar House, the fountain on the Creekside Grill patio, the flagpole at the entrance to Rossmoor and many other projects.

We serve the youth of Las Lomas, our local high school, with grants to go to Camp Royal – a leadership camp, funds for the Las Lomas Performing Arts Foundation, Scholarships and other worthy projects.

As you can see, the members of our club have come together to make a difference for others. We make every project enjoyable as our comradery is stimulating and fun. We meet once a week to share our core values and listen to interesting speakers who bring different perspectives to our lives.

Personally, as my children got older and the need for volunteering at school dropped off, I found Rotary to be a wonderful way to fulfill my need to help others. I work in the Rossmoor community, so our club is a great fit for me. I am excited and energized to be the President for our 2017-2018 year. I love the people I’ve met, get to know new people and continue to grow in leadership positions. I believe this year will be filled with new opportunities to enhance our club goals.

As you look at our Website – note the many areas in which we have participated and continue to work on in the community. If you are interested in meeting new people that have your values too, I invite you to call any of our members, or come to one of our meetings on Wednesdays at 11:30am at the Hillside Clubhouse. I would also be happy to answer any of your questions or invite you to be my guest at one of our meetings. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
Yours in Rotary,
E. Patrice Jensen
President of the Rossmoor Rotary Club 2017-2018
