"Service Above Self"

President’s Message

John King2018-19 Theme
Dear Friends and Neighbors:

Thank you for your interest in Rossmoor Rotary.

As a worldwide service organization with 1.2 million members of 33,000 Clubs in over 200 countries, I am honored to be President this year of our Club. The Rotary International theme for this year is “Be the Inspiration”. I hope to help bring this theme to life in our Club, and in my own life with my clients, friends and family. Join us, show how you can help inspire others with your energy and dedication to fellowship and service.

The Rotary Strategic Plan for this year is: “Together we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves”. As one example of this, over the last 30+ years, Rotary has led the effort to eradicate polio, which has resulted in worldwide drop from over 350,000 cases in 1985 to 11 in 2018 as of June.

On a local level, our annual Gala will be on October 13th as a fundraiser for local Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s organizations. We have raised and donated over $40,000 each of the last 3 years. Our theme this year is New Orleans. We will have a well-known bay area Zydeco band called the Zydeco Flames as our entertainment and will both have fun and raise funds for worthy causes. Please join us!

Rotary is known for fellowship and service. Fellowship is the great friends we make through our club and Rotary. Service is the local and worldwide ways we give back. From the “Clean the Creek” to our 4th of July hot dog feast and other projects in Rossmoor, St. Patrick’s Day celebration, our Gala, and our international project in Sintaro, Ethiopia, we “give back” in many ways.

Please take a look at our website, come to a meeting, and see for yourself the quality people in Rossmoor Rotary. We look forward to your company and involvement.

Yours in Rotary Service
John King
