Special Fitness Project Overview

Aims to help people with disabilities improve their fitness, health and morale by exercising with workouts utilizing DVDs.
- It is “special” because the moves and tempo are designed to be safe and fun for people with mild to moderate disabilities.
- It works for all ages from school children through senior citizens.
People who can benefit from this program include children in Special Education classes; adults who have developmental disabilities or head traumas from sports, accidents or military service; or seniors with early-stage dementia.
Special Fitness DVDs help people exercise with family members, teachers, and volunteers. The results are feeling better, becoming healthier, enjoying moving with others, and experiencing the intellectual benefits that come from regular exercise. Millions of people who can not participate in activities and recreation that most of us take for granted can do these special workouts.
Getting the DVDs to the people who need them is a huge challenge. Rossmoor Rotary will meet that challenge by inviting Rotarians, Interactors and Roteractors in other clubs to distribute the DVDs and work together to help the disabled in their localities, thus creating new leadership opportunities.
